AccuCare treats all personal and care-related information with strict confidentiality. Information shared with us by clients, families or healthcare professionals is used only for the purpose of providing safe, appropriate care, and is never disclosed without proper authorisation.
AccuCare is committed to complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy sets out how we collect, store, use and protect personal data belonging to clients, their families, staff and website visitors.
Personal Data — any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
Special Category Data — personal data revealing health conditions, medical history or care needs, which receives additional legal protection.
Data Controller — AccuCare (Accu-Care UK Ltd), which determines how and why personal data is processed.
Data Processor — any third party that processes data on AccuCare’s behalf, such as our care management software provider.
This policy applies to all personal data processed by AccuCare, whether collected through our website, care assessments, recruitment applications or ongoing service delivery. It applies equally to clients, family members, care staff, job applicants and healthcare professionals we work with.
AccuCare processes personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently, in line with UK GDPR principles. We collect only the data necessary to provide safe care or fulfil a legitimate business purpose, and we retain it only for as long as required by law or professional care standards, including CQC record-keeping requirements.
When arranging care, we collect relevant personal and health information — such as medical history, mobility needs, medication routines and personal preferences — to carry out an accurate care needs assessment. This information is collected directly from the client, their family, or authorised healthcare professionals, always with appropriate consent.
Care workers are given access only to the information necessary to deliver safe, appropriate care to their assigned clients. All staff are bound by confidentiality obligations and receive training on the proper handling, recording and storage of client information, including through our digital care management system.
Management and administrative staff are responsible for ensuring personal data is stored securely, accessed only by authorised personnel, and processed in accordance with this policy. Regular audits are carried out to ensure ongoing compliance.
In rare circumstances, AccuCare may be legally required to disclose information without consent — for example, where there is a safeguarding concern, a risk to someone’s safety, or a legal obligation to report to the relevant authorities. Any such disclosure is limited to what is strictly necessary.
All AccuCare staff receive training on data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding as part of their induction, with refresher training provided on an ongoing basis to ensure standards are maintained.
